Jump into the past and experience three centuries of Amherst History!

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places

Housed in the 1750-era Strong House, the Amherst History Museum takes visitors on a journey from the town's colonial past, through its industrial age and into the computer-driven present.

The Museum is located at 67 Amity Street in the heart of downtown Amherst, Massachusetts. Amherst is home to both Amherst College and the University of Massachusetts and is located in the beautiful Pioneer Valley.

We invite you to join us for a tour of our historic home.  Knowledgeable tour guides lead visitors through our period rooms, detailing both the vibrant history of the town of Amherst and the families who have lived in our house.

The Amherst History Museum opened in 1916 and is governed by the Amherst Historical Society, which was founded in 1899.
